Marissa McDouall

Client Services Officer

Just a girl who sees the power in being financially literate and loves helping others take control of their financial freedom. With the right help, it’s not always as complicated as it seems.

Based on my family farm in Northwest NSW, I’m dedicated to helping clients navigate the financial planning process, ensuring they have a smooth, informed journey toward achieving their goals. Working remotely allows me to tend to my poddy calves, beloved pigs and ever-expanding garden, with my best friend, Lucky the dog, never far away.

My role as a ‘Client Services Officer’ allows me the flexibility to work alongside the Seedli advisers; prepare and process documentation, co-ordinate annual reviews, liaise with other essential professionals such as accountants, insurers and conveyancers, and, most importantly, be a reliable point of contact for our valued clients.

What’s a moment or experience that shaped who you are today?

Becoming a mum is a whole fresh start to a new life; the little things suddenly become so exciting, and there is an overwhelming feeling of gratitude in life’s simplicities. The days can be long, but the months roll on by; it’s a massive reminder of how precious living in the moment is.

If your life right now had a soundtrack, what three songs would be on it and why?

  • Old McDonald Had A Farm
  • Lovely Day Bill Withers
  • Dancing Queen ABBA

What’s a hot take you’ll defend forever, even if everyone else disagrees?

No wifi is better than slow wifi.

What’s one small habit or decision that’s quietly helped your financial life (even if it wasn’t intentional)?

Consistently having eyes over my accounts and being aware of what I am spending my money on. Learning to be disciplined with my savings goals and to stay away from buy-now-pay-later platforms.

What’s something you’re completely obsessed with at the moment: a show, hobby, book, podcast, or random niche interest?

Anything true crime.

If your younger self asked you for one piece of money advice that isn’t boring or preachy, what would you tell them?

Always choose experiences and travel over stuff! You can’t put a price on making memories. I would definitely tell my younger self not to get so caught up in consumerism. You really don’t need that designer bag!

“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”
